The Specialist Lesson

Dyslexia Support Lancashire uses multisensory teaching methods when teaching students with dyslexia. The lessons are based on the principles of Orton Gillingham. My aim is to ensure that everyone can read for meaning and spell when writing; a phonics centred approach is just the first step of this process. All teaching is tailored to the individual needs of the child or young person and their learning preferences, with the aim of building their confidence as well as enhancing their literacy skills. Ideally, the lessons will follow a dyslexia assessment which will highlight the students strengths and difficulties.
